“Helping Our Children Do Well in School” parenting seminar set on Oct. 30
Sun.Star Davao, Oct. 16, 2010

What makes students excel in school?

The significant contributions parents make toward a child's success in school have long been recognized by administrators and teachers worldwide. Without a doubt, success at school begins at home.

A survey of more than 500 parents of honor students, athletes, student leaders, and students excelling in extracurricular activities, yielded 10 simple strategies for good parenting.

Learn more about the 10 Successful Strategies from the Parents’ Best Practices Study of the Ateneo De Manila High School based on the bestselling book “Helping Our Children Do Well in School” (Winner, National Book Award) by Queena Lee-Chua, Ph.D. and Maribel Dionisio, M.A.

The Davao Christian High School Parents-Teachers Fellowship will be sponsoring a free parenting seminar with guest speaker Dr. Queena N. Lee-Chua on October 30, 2010 (Saturday), 7:00 p.m. at the Davao Christian High School Auditorium.

Dr. Lee-Chua graduated from Ateneo de Manila University in 1987, with a degree in BS Mathematics, summa cum laude. In addition, she has a doctorate in clinical psychology from the same university, where she is a professor.

A science and health columnist of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and in-demand consultant to schools, governments and businesses, Dr. Lee-Chua’s forte includes mathematics, education and learning psychology, as well as child cognitive and behavioral development.

The guest speaker has received numerous prestigious awards such as the TOYM (The Outstanding Young Men), TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service), Metrobank Outstanding Teachers Award, OYS (Outstanding Young Scientists), Jose Rizal Awards for Excellence, National Book Award, National Science and Technology Journalism Awards, Outstanding S & T Columnist and Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature.

On October 31, Dr. Lee-Chua will have a book launching/signing session together with her son Scott at SM Davao’s National Bookstore from 3pm-5pm. Scott will be launching his own travelogue entitled “Top Ten Travels”.
