Giving thanks the Havaianas way

“Giving thanks the Havaianas way”
Sun.Star Davao, Feb. 26, 2011

White sand, intricate shells, fresh coconuts and lively drumbeaters warmly welcomed media guests recently as Martish Marketing Co., Havaianas’ South East Mindanao sub-distributor, hosted a sensational summer-inspired get-together to celebrate the world-renowned Brazilian footwear’s six fruitful years of “fun, function and fashion” in the region.

“Martish” is creatively derived from the names of young and dynamic cousins/entrepreneurs Marga Montemayor-Nograles and Tisha Ang-Dominguez. In August 2005, their company, Martish Marketing Co., started selling the well-loved Havaianas in Mindanao.

Havaianas simply just flew off the shelves and Martish sold its initial stocks of 3,500 pairs in no time. The brand has shown tremendous growth since then, endearing itself to the hearts of every stylish Dabawenyo”, shares Marga, the creative director of Martish Marketing Co.

The fashionable mother of two reveals that Martish Marketing Co. “sells an average of about 10,000 pairs per month”. Currently, Martish operates five stores in Davao and General Santos, four consigned stores all over Southern Mindanao and will soon open its 6th store this year at the Abreeza Mall, which Marga describes as “the biggest flip flop store in the country”.

As a way of giving thanks the Havaianas way, Martish Marketing Co. launched a new and personalized program catering to the press during the sumptuous luncheon held at Villa Margarita.

“We recognize the role that the Davao media has played in making Havaianas in South East Mindanao the success that it is today. To show our utmost gratitude, we are coming up with the program dubbed as “Obrigado”, which means “Thank you” in Portuguese—the official language of Brazil”, explains Marga.

“Obrigado” consists of a series of lunches or coffee breaks with handpicked feature writers and bloggers all throughout the year.
Marga continues that “these intimate meetings will be a venue for Havaianas to update the local media of upcoming activities and events, as well as provide information about the latest Havaianas collections”.

During the launch attended by media friends from various Davao-based newspapers and regional magazines, Marga beamed proudly as she presented the achievements of Havaianas for the past six years in South East Mindanao. The event concluded with a thrilling sneak peak of what Havaianas has in store for 2011 including contests with amazing prizes such as a trip to Hawaii, U.S.A.
