A world of wonder

“A world of wonder”
SunStar Davao, September 30, 2023

Davao Christian High School's V. Mapa Campus was recently buzzing with excitement as families gathered for the long-awaited Family Day event with the theme, "A World of Wonder".

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the DCHS Parents-Teachers Fellowship (PTF) in collaboration with the Student Council (SC) brought back the ultimate international experience, inspired by Disney's "It's a Small World". Together, they orchestrated an event that not only celebrated the diverse community within the school but also embraced various cultures from around the globe.

As the young adventurers set foot on the campus, they were greeted by Pop Karts' mobile arcade games, instantly igniting their excitement. Overhead, a myriad of multi-colored hot air balloons adorned the hallway’s ceilings while outdoor walls were bedecked with colorful greetings in different languages, showcasing the global spirit that would permeate the day.

Foodies of all ages were in for a treat as a delightful array of international cuisines lined the food carts. From the delicate flavors of sushi to the zesty goodness of tacos, there was a delectable dish to satisfy every palate. The aroma of these mouthwatering delights wafted through the air, enticing families to embark on a culinary adventure.

Inside the auditorium, a breathtaking transformation awaited. Adorned with decorations inspired by the iconic "It's a Small World," parents and children alike were swept away on a whirlwind tour of international festivities. Students and teachers showcased the vibrant cultures of various countries through lively performances, games, and dance.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the spirited display of global pride, as students and families donned costumes representing their favorite countries. The creativity on display was astounding, and those who brought the most international flair were rewarded with well-deserved prizes.

Amidst the festivities, the newly elected officers of the DCHS PTF and Student Council were formally inducted. Cynthia Lazaga Ramas assumed her role as the head of the PTF, while Sean Rupert Dupa and Junior SC President Chanelle Natalia Jeri, led the Student Council.

Thanks to the collective efforts of the DCHS PTF and SC, and the generosity of sponsors, families were transported on a truly global adventure without needing a passport.

Certainly, the "A World of Wonder" Family Day will be etched in the memories of DCHS students and their families as a day of unity, celebration, and a vivid reminder that no matter where we come from, we are all part of this beautifully diverse world.

Until next year, when new adventures await!
