The Girl Scouts of the Philippines Davao Council Eastern Mindanao Region recently recognized various outstanding individuals and troops for their valuable contributions and achievements in the movement during the “Araw ng Parangal”.

On the same day, the council also celebrated its 73rd year anniversary.

The Davao Council expressed its gratefulness to the troop leaders, school administrators, parents, stakeholders such as the LGU, and private individuals for investing their time and finances as well as wisdom, talent, and ingenuity. Through their dedication and cooperation, the Girls were inspired to successfully undertake worthwhile projects that benefited the movement and the community.

During the ceremony, Commissioner for Program Nenita Navales presented the evaluation results of the districts and schools’ impressive accomplishments against set goals.

Awarded as outstanding troop leaders were Delia Binaoro, Marilou Legaspi, Nadet Rasonable, Nina Preciosa Gore, Grace Tigullo, Kathy Suarez, and Carolina Sotomayor who were all from Tibungco District.

Districts and schools that received different awards included Los Amigos National High School, Catalunan Pequeño National High School, Crossing Bayabas National High School, Cabantian National High School, University of the Immaculate Conception, Malabog, Malabog A, Malabog B, Gen. Roxas, Maa, Buhangin, Baguio, Paquibato, Sta. Ana, Calinan, Daliaon, Matina, Bunawan, Talomo B, Bangoy, Piedad, Tibungco, Davao Central, San Roque, Binugao, Talomo A, and Tugbok.

           

Garnering the most awards were Tugbok District (No. 1); Talomo A District (No. 2); and Binugao District (No. 3). The annual recognition focused on badgework, participation in activities, membership, fundraising, trainings, and projects.

 

Bankas Elementary School, Piedad District was the national nominee for the Magic Spot Project. This project is a laudable program for troops to transform a dull area in the community into a beautiful spot. It helps every girl scout who belongs to a troop develop her planning skill and ability to work with others in carrying out a community development project.

On the other hand, Manambulan Elementary School, Piedad District was the national nominee for the Pilar Hidalgo Lim (PHL) Troop Achievement Award. The said award selects troops with outstanding community projects that genuinely reflect good planning, community involvement, and financial literacy, among others.
