Happy plays are here again

“Happy plays are here again”
SunStar Davao, May 7, 2022

“Play and imagination provide priceless opportunities for children to expand their vocabulary, enrich their creativity, try a variety of roles and experiences, and build positive relationships.”

“These are essential in every child’s development,” stresses Ena Chong-Tai, an event stylist and doting mom.

Believing that imaginative play can strengthen the kids’ core profiles in the areas of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development, the mompreneur brilliantly thought of opening a one-stop place where parents and their children can bond together. She also wanted a venue where parents can have their own “me time” without feeling guilty.

Blessing in disguise

“We were supposed to launch Happy Plays in time for my eldest Hailey’s 7th birthday back in 2020. However, because of the pandemic, our plan to open it for Dabawenyos and their families had to be postponed,” shares Ena.

But somehow this pandemic became a blessing in disguise, too, as Ena’s work pace slowed down in time for their much-awaited second baby Harley who recently turned a month old.

Knowing she will be extra busy with their little bundle of joy, Ena tapped Teacher Jovanna Zulita of PlaygoalZ to become her reliable operations partner for Happy Plays as they prepared to open its doors to the public. “She made our plans concrete and extended it to another level of playing and learning,” reveals Ena.

Integrated playground

Happy Plays is Davao’s first indoor integrated playground that allows children to learn sets of activities while having fun. It is an avenue that empowers and nurtures families to connect and grow their parenthood journeys together.

At Happy Plays, everyone is given access to enjoy and learn life skills such as independence, creativity, decision-making, and responsibility in the different learning communities such as the Sweet Shoppe, Clinic, Post Office, Grocery, Construction Area, Baby Room, Police Station, Laundry Area, Diners, Manipulative Area, Library, and Activity Area.

“Each area offers a comfortable space with age-appropriate activities and gender-neutral materials, ensuring excellent playful and educational service,” details Ena.

Easter Day Hooray

During Happy Plays’ recent “Easter Day Hooray” in partnership with PlaygoalZ, Rooke and Reese Kiddie Shop, Storked Ph, Parenthing, and Fruits and Tree, thirty children participated in the event which showcased thrilling egg hunting games, free play, egg decorating activity, parachute play, and raffle prizes.

Prior to the event, Happy Plays reiterated the health and sanitation protocols through e-mail reminders. Sanitizing of hands was done before, in-between, and after each session as well.

“Everyone was delighted that there is another avenue for their children to look forward to. It was heartwarming to see that the young ones were excited to see their friends again after over two years. The parents and guardians also liked the idea that there are interactive segments that allow kids to be themselves. It was likewise wonderful to see families playing and learning at the same time,” details Ena.
