“Party under construction”
Sun.Star Davao, Oct. 15, 2011
“Warning: Hard Hat Area”, huge signs playfully cautioned guests as they entered The Apo View’s grand ballroom to celebrate Michael Andrei Go de Leon’s construction-inspired first birthday.
It was indeed a fitting theme for the energetic and jolly unico hijo of doting parents Bonggie and Ali de Leon. Aside from Andrei’s fascination for trucks and cars, both Daddy Bonggie and Andrei’s maternal grandfather Loy Go are in the construction business.
When kiddie guests arrived at Andrei’s “Construction Site”, they were immediately provided with their own hard hats and tool set belts by the birthday boy’s efficient construction crew.
With the aid of their construction site map, the junior workers expertly navigated their way to the assortment of food and game booths, which included Krispy Kreme Donuts, Chef Tony's Popcorn, Potato Madness, Basti's Pizza, All That Juice, Miguelito's Ice Cream, Chocolate Corner, Bagtag Corner, Imagine Photo Booth, Shooting Gallery and the very popular Angry Birds Sling Shot Booth.
Different construction-related signs such as “Caution”, “Under Construction” and “Work Area” were strategically placed all over the site as well.
To highlight the exciting construction theme experience, Davao’s premier party organizer Annie Paz Lim creatively utilized a variety of colorful mixer, dumptruck and backhoe toy trucks as centerpieces for the guest tables. In addition, construction-themed books displayed at the tables were eagerly read by the kids while they waited for the party’s
activities to begin.
It was not “all work and no play” for the junior construction workers. Talented host Jymmez Infiesto, who acted as the ‘engineer’ of Andrei’s “Construction Site”, superbly facilitated action-packed games to the delight of the young guests. The overload of prizes was lovingly prepared by Mommy Ali and Andrei’s elder sisters Angel and Andrea.
On the other hand, the captivating bird show enthralled everyone while the rare chance to pet a live baby crocodile was a mega hit with the kids.
That evening, it was not only Andrei who enjoyed blowing the candle of his three-layer construction-themed fondant birthday cake by Kulet Sabandal. His grandfather Loy was also celebrating another year in his life. As he blew the candle of his very own birthday cake, the kids sang a birthday song especially for Andrei’s “Angkong”, too.
Capping the memorable affair was the giving out of personalized construction storage boxes filled with yummy goodies and toys to the kiddie construction workers for a job well done!
